Description:
This is a pair of slotted conchos made by the late Jerry Cates. They are marked Cates on the back of the conchos. It is rare to see any conchos built by Mr. Cates and we have never seen any spur strap conchos. Mr. Cates was posthumously honored by the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum with the Chester A. Reynolds Award for his contribution to the preservation of the legacy of the American West. He is listed in both spur books by Ned and Jody Martin. The conchos are nickel silver and one concho is mounted with a copper star and the other concho is mounted with a nickel silver star. These conchos would look great on a pair of spur straps to display with your Cates spurs.
