Description:
This is a handmade bit made by well-known bit and spur maker Gerald Stockard. It is marked Stockard inside one cheek piece and numbered 126 inside the other cheek piece. Gerald started building bits and spurs in the early 1980’s when he was working for Buster Welch. He has built trophy spurs for two of the top ranch rodeos in the country – Western Heritage in Abilene and the Ranch Round Up in Wichita Falls. His bits are a favorite among cutters and ranch cowboys. You do not see his work show up too often for sale. The bit is steel with a natural patina and is mounted with twenty pieces of nickel silver. It is not bent, broken, or repaired. This would be a nice bit to use or to add to a collection from a very desirable maker.
