Description:
This is a used pair of handmade floral carved spur straps made by Bill Heisman from Tucson, Arizona. Bill is listed in Bits & Spurs Motifs, Techniques and Modern Makers by Ned and Jody Martin. Bill moved to Tucson in 1990 and started using the Bill Heisman Tuscon Arizona mark so these straps are post 1990. Bill built bits and spurs and also did leather work before he retired due to health issues. He is one of the founders of the Traditional Cowboy Artists Association and a past president of that organization. The straps are a lighter weight skirting leather about seven to eight ounces. The buckles on these straps are nickel plated steel and some of the nickel plating is gone. They are attached to the straps with brads. He is an outstanding maker and his work is very collectible. This would be a nice pair to display with a pair of spurs or could still be used.
