The day-to-day work of a pen rider revolves around animal observation and movement:



Daily Health Inspections: Riders slowly ride through assigned pens every morning to look at every single animal. They are trained to spot early, subtle signs of illness.



Medical Treatment: Pen riders often assist veterinarians or health crews by administering vaccines, antibiotics, or other treatments according to strict protocols.



Cattle Movement: They assist with receiving new cattle off trucks, deliver cattle to processing, to home pens, and moving finished cattle to shipping areas.



Horse and Pen Maintenance: We rely heavily on our horses, feeding and maintaining the health of their equine partners is a major duty. They also report broken fences, check water troughs, and ensure the pens are in good shape.
