Description:
Maggie’s Chasing Fire is a 15.1 hand 2022 model buckskin mare with a story as special as she is. Born on our family’s place on the Fourth of July, Maggie came into the world with a little extra spark, and she has been part of our program from her very first breath. Our family raised her, handled her, started her, and brought her along every step of the way, so there is no guesswork in who she is, where she came from, or how she has been developed. She has grown up with our family, our routine, and our expectations, and that foundation shows in everything she does.

Maggie is the kind of mare that looks like someone sat down and designed one with purpose. She is tailor-made, balanced, and correct, with a beautiful buckskin color, a refined head, a kind eye, good bone, and a strong, athletic build. She is deep through the heart girth, strong over her top line, powerful from behind, and moves with the fluidity and balance that make a horse enjoyable to ride and capable of excelling in a variety of disciplines. Everywhere she goes, she attracts attention for both her presence and the quality she carries.

Under saddle, Maggie rides with a level of confidence and consistency that is well beyond what many expect from a young horse. She is soft-faced, responsive, and willing, with smooth transitions, a comfortable stride, and a natural ability to stay collected. She rides quietly in the arena, lopes quality circles, moves willingly off leg pressure, and carries herself with a level of maturity that makes every ride enjoyable. She is athletic enough to increase the pace when asked yet sensible enough to settle back down and ride on a loose rein.

Outside the arena, Maggie has been exposed to the kind of experiences that build a truly versatile horse. She has been used around the ranch, worked cattle, and spent time at the stockyards where she has navigated busy alleys, crowds, noise, and cattle pressure with a calm and willing attitude. She has sorted, penned, and moved cattle and has developed the confidence and practical experience that only comes from doing real jobs. She handles new situations thoughtfully and has proven herself to be dependable in unfamiliar environments.

On the trails, Maggie is the kind that goes where she is pointed and enjoys having a job. She has been ridden extensively through varying terrain and confidently handles hills, timber, water crossings, rough ground, and open country. She is sure-footed, level-headed, and content to cover ground all day. Whether riding alone or with a group, she remains attentive to her rider and steady in her approach.

Maggie’s athleticism and trainability make her an exciting prospect for the future. She has the speed, agility, and natural ability to excel in the barrel pen, while her responsiveness, cow sense, and willingness suggest she could also make an outstanding rope horse. She possesses the kind of foundation that allows her next owner to confidently take her in several directions while already having a solid start beneath them.

On the ground, Maggie is every bit as enjoyable as she is under saddle. Having been handled since the day she was born, she is respectful, personable, and easy to be around. She stands quietly for grooming, saddling, bathing, farrier work, loading, and hauling. Maggie has a small, barely noticeable cosmetic scar on her left hind from when she was a yearling. It is cosmetic only and does not affect her in any way.

She enjoys attention, has excellent manners, and fits seamlessly into daily life. She is the type that meets you at the gate with interest and is always ready for whatever the day brings.

Maggie is not just another young prospect. She is a mare with a lifetime of thoughtful handling behind her, a wealth of real-world experience for her age, and a bright future ahead. Raised on our family’s place from day one, she represents the kind of horse we are proud to put our name behind. With her beauty, brains, athletic ability, proven exposure, and dependable disposition, Maggie’s Chasing Fire offers an uncommon combination of quality and substance that is increasingly difficult to find.
