Punchy is a sharp, capable gelding with all the grit and talent you’d expect from a true ranch partner — wrapped up in a compact, catty, and athletic package. At 12 years old, he’s got just the right blend of experience, maturity, and try. This gelding has done the real work. He’s pushed cattle, checked fence lines, been part of brandings, and logged miles of ranch and trail terrain. He’s had a rope thrown off him, navigated rough country, and been exposed to just about everything imaginable — from loud vehicles and tarps to strollers and dogs. He handles pressure and unpredictability with confidence and a clear mind. Under saddle, Punchy is a joy to ride. He has a finished neck rein, a smooth walk-jog-lope, and a snappy rollback. He stops off your seat and voice, backs easily, sidepasses, and moves off leg with hardly any cue. He’s broke and responsive but not over reactive — a perfect balance of feel and reliability. Punchy has also participated in not only roping events but several cutting and sorting events as well. Punchy has been ridden bridleless and bareback down the highway and through intense wind — nothing fazes him. Punchy is incredibly surefooted on the trail and has crossed water, bridges, tarps, and more. His mountain experience shows — he’s steady, bold, and smart about where he places his feet.
