His kind do not come up for sale very often, one you can pull out a few times a month to go do a job on but also safe enough to let the older kids or guests ride and know they will be safe. Twix has been on one ranch most of his life, used primarily by the foreman as his main mount. He has always been ridden by a good cowboy and he is broke the way one is supposed to be. Twix is a thick made lineback dun, 15.2 hh and close to 1200 pounds, with a big hip, tons of bone and a big foot. He is 16 but has always had the best care and is sound, healthy, and willing and able to go all day long if you need him to. Twix is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He rides on a loose rein and really knows how to travels out in the pasture. He has been used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, ponying colts and dragging calves. Twix is strong to the horn and good on the end of a rope. He is quick footed and excellent in the sorting pen, and would be a great teacher for someone wanting to learn how to rope or sort. He is an excellent ranch horse but would be just as content spending the rest of his days as a pleasure horse, packing his new owner around on the trails. Twix has an excellent handle and a soft mouth, will sidepass, work a gate, and is good on both leads. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. Twix has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Like a lot of true ranch horses, Twix has always been roped to be caught and has not had a lot of hands on him on the ground. He is not the type of horse that will nuzzle your pockets for treats or enjoy you hugging his face, he is a work horse with a job to do. But he is respectful and just needs someone to pet on him and teach him to enjoy it. Twix is good for the shoer, stands quietly tied, and is easy to load and haul. Asking $4500.
