Experience required and wages DOE. We run on deeded, private lease, BLM, and forest service land. Three bedroom house and utilities provided. Employee will be responsible for: -Growing adequate feed for cow/calf and yearlings by making efficient use of water in a flood irrigation system. Backhoe and ditcher operation to keep the irrigation system in proper working order. -Effectively implementing rest rotation grazing system by properly maintaining fences, and identifying forage availability and use. Some use of temporary electric fence. - Handling cattle in a quiet and appropriate manner. Almost all cattle work is done horseback, but this is not a ‘cowboy’ operation. Other duties require use of ATV and the operation of machinery. - Some calving assistance including night calving heifers in the spring. -Harvesting of native grown grass hay. Baling, raking and stacking. - Maintaining ranch infrastructure including: Rebuilding fence, building/shop/house maintenance, and some remodel and construction. - Maintaining proper cattle nutrition through winter feed supplement, mineral distribution, body condition scoring, and grazing rotation. - Vehicle and machinery maintenance including oil change and light mechanic. Preference will be given to someone with the following experience, ability, and attributes: -5 + years experience in the previously listed areas of work. -Able to work unsupervised and also get along working with other employees. Amount of supervision depends on employee performance. -Having own horses. - Clean, non-smoker, no drugs - Mechanical, carpentry and welding knowledge. - Great work related references. Our cattle run on private land, private lease, BLM state and forest service leases. Our cattle are black and black white face mixed. We cull heavily on disposition, they handle well and a lot of time and thought have been put into the herd that we now have. We have very nice updated facilities that we continue to improve. We take pride in everything from our wire fences to our employee housing. We are very involved with and hold offices in Carbon County and Wyoming Stock Growers Associations, as well as other associations. We are proactive in issues facing our ranch and industry.
