Description:
If you are looking for a good using horse, one that is tough, cowy, and strong to the horn, that you can go do a day’s work on, then check out Dillon. For the price, you won’t find a nicer one! If you are looking for a kid’s horse, beginner rider’s horse, family horse or weekend warrior horse, then this is NOT the horse for you. Dillon is a cowboy’s using horse, and really good at his job. He is 8 years old and 15.1hh, extremely well built with a big hip, wide chest, plenty of bone and a big foot. He sells as grade. Dillon started out in cutting training but then got too big to be highly competitive, so at close to 4 he was sold to a big ranch out West. He was owned by that ranch until we bought him, and the only reason he became available is because they had a dispersal sale due to lack of grass at the beginning of summer. Dillon has been used for all phases of ranch work, and used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and dragging calves to the fire. He knows his job and does it well, never getting excited while working cattle. Dillon is very cowy and will pull anything you can rope. He has an excellent handle, will spin around, drags his butt when he stops, and will sidepass, work off your leg, and work a gate. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Dillon has the smoothest little jog that you could sit to all day long, a nice running walk, and rocking horse lope. He rides quietly on a loose rein but has been taught to travel out and cover some ground. Dillon is an excellent ranch horse, but has the mind and athletic ability to do anything you ask him, whether you want to do team sorting, heel off of him, or do ranch versatility shows. Dillon can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. While he is extremely broke, Dillon is not the type of horse you can just stand up and ride twice a month. He will get fresh if not ridden regularly, and although he is definitely NOT an outlaw, he can be a little humpy. All it takes is a few minutes in the round pen to get the fresh off of him and then you can hop on and go. He will also be a bit watchy on the ground if he is fresh. We have priced him accordingly at $4500. Dillon has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, gets along great with other horses, will load in any type of trailer you ask him to, and saddles and bridles easily.
