Description:
For sale is my AQHA gelding, "Soldier." He stands almost 16 hands tall and is 8 years old. This mellow, gentle horse has been used for every aspect of the ranch. From the branding pen to gathering cattle in the mountains, you name it and he has done it. He puts you in position when roping, you can head or heel off of him when doctoring, branding, or just ropin the hot heels. I have started, roped, and flagged lots of colts off of him. Absolutely no spook- very all around gentle horse. Has been cowboyed on in California, Oregon, and Montana. I just got back from Montana with him this past summer, and we entered many ranch rodeos together. He works off of legs exceptionally well and will do anything that’s asked of him. We often ride him in a halter. Can be a pain to catch when has sat for awhile- nothing grain can’t fix. Stands for farrier good, stands tied, clips, and bathes. Has coggins and brand inspection. Teeth floated on 9-18-17. He would excel as continuing to be a ranch horse, or just use him for trail rides and pleasure! He is as broke of a horse as I’ve ever ridden, but can be cold backed when he sits for awhile. He doesn’t buck hard but will let you know he’s fresh when you give him the spurs if he has sat out in pasture for a couple months. I’ve had my 12 year old brother rope off him and put first time riders on him to gather and ride through cows. I would not trust a kid on him if you let him sit a winter/ couple months.
