Description:
If you are looking for a safe, dependable, well broke gelding, one that is easy to look at and fun to ride, then take a look at Rawhide. He is one of the nicest older geldings that we have had on our ranch all year! He is 17 years old but looks and rides like a younger horse. He is 15 hh and very nicely built, with that beautiful cowboy color, a good hip, four black feet and a pretty head with a kind eye. Rawhide is gentle for just about anyone, with absolutely no buck, rear, bite, kick, or take off. He has spent most of his life on one ranch out in West Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, ponying colts, and dragging calves to the fire. He has an excellent handle and a ton of cow! Rawhide excels in the sorting pen, and will pull anything you can hook onto. He knows what to do on the end of a rope and will not get you into a storm. Rawhide would be perfect for a kid wanting to ride on the ranch with dad and learn to work cattle, or for a weekend rancher to use on the weekends to check his cattle. He has a ton of heart and try, and a willing, want to please attitude. Rawhide is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He saddles up gentle every day, even if not ridden regularly. He has an excellent one handed neck rein, stops easily, will sidepass, work a gate better than most horses, and work off of your leg. Rawhide rides just as good bareback with a halter as he does with a saddle and bridle, and will even ride well with just a rope around his neck. He is an excellent ranch horse but with his disposition he could do anything you ask of him. Whether you want to use him on the ranch, ride him for pleasure, or let the kiddos do playdays on him, he has the mind and athletic ability to do it. Rawhide is laid back but responsive, and rides quietly on a loose rein. He is content to walk quietly all day but will easily step into a trot or lope when asked. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Rawhide is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe, he stands quietly tied and gets along well with other horses. He is sound but does have a small bump on his left knee and a spot in the top of his left eye, but he is sound and healthy and has no loss of sight or problems with either the knee or the eye. $4500.
