If you are looking for a good safe all around horse that you can trust to take care of the kids or grandkids, then check out Apache. He does it all: barrels, poles, trail rides, ropes and carries a flag, and he is absolutely safe and gentle for just about any rider. He is a retired ranch gelding and rides excellent out in the pasture, and he would be perfect for a little cowboy or cowgirl who wanted to help dad and grandpa out on the ranch. He has been roped off of and has sorted cattle, and the last couple years has been ridden by a 6 year old girl. Apache is 20 years old but doesn’t act like it, and he is still very able to be competitive. He loves to run barrels and poles and will go any speed the rider wants, but when they ask him to go he has plenty of speed to give. Apache has no alley issues and is as gentle, solid, honest and sane as they come. He has excellent ground manners and loves to be spoiled by little kids. He has an easy one handed neck rein, really good stop, is good on both leads, and will work a gate. He will cross water, go through tall brush, go over logs, and nothing spooks or scares him. Apache has no bad habits, has never acted spoiled, will not take advantage of his rider, and has no buck, rear, bite, kick or take off in him. He is the perfect size at 15hh, and recently had his teeth floated, coggins pulled and shoes done. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. We have hauled him all over and he is always the same quiet horse everywhere we take him. Apache has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, gets along great with other horses, will load in any type of trailer you ask him to, and saddles and bridles easily. He is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe. $2500. Apache is a little thin and could benefit from a couple months more of good groceries.
