Gus truly is that once in a lifetime horse that will be the talk of the town everywhere you take him. He is a true all around horse that can and will do anything you ask of him and do it well. He has everything going for him, he is the perfect cowboy color and beautifully built, he is quiet, gentle and willing, he is extremely well broke, and he has done so many different things in his life that nothing bothers him or spooks him. Gus is a stout 8 year old buckskin, 15.1 hh and 1250 lbs with a huge hip, wide chest, and a ton of bone. He is very well bred, with Colonel Freckles and Doc Quixote right on his papers, and AQHA registered as “Colonel Be Hollywood” #5198961. No horse is perfect, but he is pretty close. He is a total gentleman on the ground, with a sweet, friendly nature and a willing attitude. Gus has spent the majority of his life on a ranch out in North Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. We have ponied colts off of him and they can literally climb all over him and it won’t bother him. Gus is stout, tough, and could pull a house down if you asked him to. He is strong to the horn and good on the end of a rope, never getting excited or upset when working cattle. We have also started roping the hot heels with him. He has also carried the flag in grand entries and the noise, lights and chaos don’t bother him one bit. But Gus also enjoys just a leisurely ride down the trails and would be perfectly content as someone’s trail horse and best friend. He is laid back and quiet, yet responsive, and will adjust himself to the level of his rider. He will not take advantage of a less experienced rider and will step up his game for someone who really knows what they are doing. Gus is broke to death, with an excellent one handed neck rein, and will spin, slide to a stop, do beautiful rollbacks and work off your leg. He will sidepass and work a gate and has wonderfully smooth gaits that are easy to sit to. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Gus can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. We have hauled him all over and he is always the same quiet horse everywhere we take him. Gus has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, gets along great with other horses, will load in any type of trailer you ask him to, and saddles and bridles easily.
