If you are looking for a gentle, safe trail horse that is stout enough to carry an adult but low to the ground and easy to get on, then take a look at Apache. He is a flashy paint gelding, 13 years old and 14hh with a ton of color and shape and a good foot. This neat little guy came from some good friends, who had owned him for nearly 6 years. Both their boys used him as a step up horse from their first pony, and now that they have moved onto different horses he is looking for a new family to love him and spoil him. Apache is gentle enough for total beginner children with supervision, but better suited to children with basic riding skills or beginner adults. He has an excellent one handed neck rein and has been taught to travel out in the pasture, and is not just a dead sided, dead headed trail horse. Apache is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He is good on both leads, will move off your leg, and stops easily. He is laid back but responsive, and responds well to his cues with any type of rider. Apache has been used for playdays in the past but seems to prefer trail riding over doing playday events. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. Apache has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. He is easy to load, haul and shoe. We just floated his teeth, wormed him and pulled his coggins so he is ready to go. Apache has an old injury that caused some cloudiness in his right eye, but we had him checked out by our vet and he still has most of his vision in that eye.
