Kate is an extremely well bred mare, by an own son of Colonel Freckles and out of an own daughter of Docs Lynx. She is gentle as can be and really rides nice out in the pasture, and is a good looking mare that could easily go back into someone’s breeding program. Kate is 16 years old and AQHA registered as “Vagabond Kate” # 4092121. She was broke as a 3 year old and ridden on the ranch for several years, then thrown into the broodmare band. Kate was ridden periodically over the years by the children and grandchildren of her second owner, staying gentle even if not ridden but only a few times a year. The only reason she is for sale is because he got out of the breeding business and we bought all of his remaining mares. We threw a saddle on her after having over a year off and she rode right off with no problems at all. Kate is 15.1hh and nicely built with a good hip, plenty of bone and four black feet. She has absolutely no buck at all, and rides quietly on a loose rein. She has an easy one handed neck rein and a great stop. Kate is gentle and rides quietly on a loose rein, and knows how to travel out. She is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. She can be ridden out by herself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. Kate has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. She is a little too much for the little kids but suitable for an advanced beginner adult or experienced youth. She is sound to ride and breed.
