Description:
Day time Calving Position

Wanted: qualified person to assist calving large group of first calf heifers February 1 to April 15 / could turn into a full time job for the right individual

This is a bunkhouse position for a single employee / bunkhouse is shared with other employees

Important to have good time management skills

Needs to have better than average horsemanship abilities

Must be physically able to clean pens, carry water in 5 gallon buckets, and handle 70 pound straw bales

Must be willing to work 12 - 14 hour shift

Duties to include:

• Hourly horseback checks on heifers

• Experienced at detecting and dealing with sick or starving calves

• Able to pasture treat calves in a low stress manner

• Experienced at dealing with calving complications

• Assist any and all birthing complications

• Supervise part time help

• Must be able to deal with suckling and non-mothering issues

• Manually clean calving “jugs” when needed with a pitchfork and rake

• This job requires a lot of “hustle”
