Description:
My name is Keaton Mares. I’m 22 years old (23 March 2017) originally from Central Wisconsin. I moved to Big Sky, MT spring of 2013 to work at the Covered Wagon Ranch as a Wrangler for the summer. That fall I became a mule packer and elk hunting guide for Sage Peak Outfitters. In the winter I became a Backcountry snowmobile guide and mechanic for Canyon Adventures. I have repeated these 3 jobs for the last 3-4 years and became barn manager taking care of 96 head of horses at the Covered Wagon Ranch for the 2016 season. Through these experiences I have acquired knowledge in horsemanship with Ray Hunt emphasis, colt starting, mule packing, equine doctoring, mechanical knowledge in gas and diesel engines, construction/electrical/plumbing knowledge, barbed wire/jack leg fencing, Wilderness First Responder certification and knowledge of the hospitality business. Also I went to Oklahoma Horseshoeing School and graduated with a farrier certificate. Growing up in Wisconsin I have worked with cattle both beef and dairy but mostly dairy. I am looking for a job at a beef/equine ranch willing to let me learn more. I am a fast learner, show me how it’s done and I’ll get it done. I am use to working independently so that is not a big deal, but am also a team player and work well with others. Over the last couple years I have helped brand and help move cattle at friends ranches in the area. Sitz Angus Harrison, MT and Mission Ranch Livingston, MT. I am definitely not an expert in the beef industry but am wanting to learn. Hoping someone will help me get my foot in the door!! Thanks



I do have a 6 year old Border collie/black lab mix dog-have references



Would like to stay in Montana but willing to relocate if the position is in a place of interest.
