Description:
Full-time ranch foreman and part-time host needed for family-owned ranch in Austin County, Texas, approximately one hour west of Houston. The ranch is approximately 400 acres. This ranch includes a breeder program, recreational hunting and use of private lodge for owner and owner’s guest. This position requires in general:



• Knowledge of and hands-on experience with Whitetail deer breeding facilities and exotic wildlife management, ranch equipment, and building maintenance/repair.

• Understanding and management of Game Management Software. Must be computer proficient.

• Management of the lodge and everything on the property.

• This job does not have a set schedule; some early mornings during hunting season and occasional odd hours including middle of the night.

• Requires valid driver’s license. Background check and drug testing required.

• An office is also provided for computer work and record keeping in the separate facility.



Looking for a hardworking, honest, and reliable person to manage operations. Must be a year-round, full-time ranch foreman and part-time host, generally Thursday through Sunday but not limited to, and some holidays included. Must be willing to roll up your sleeves and make things happen to improve the property and operations. While there may be occasional contract labor to assist with projects, this position requires the ability and desire to work in the Texas heat, alongside the contract labor.



Outdoor work requiring physical strength and stamina. Manager must be organized and efficient with good communication skills (both verbal and written), sales skills, and must be computer literate.



Ranch Foreman Duties:

• Direct breeding and maintenance of Whitetail Deer, including record maintenance, working with and/or shipping deer, handling deer sales.

• Must have a working understanding of TPWD rules and regulations for deer breeders.

• Work closely and communicate efficiently with the owner and Ranch Administrator on a timely and regular basis.

• Maintain records on all births, deaths, transfers and purchases of wildlife.

• Provide animal care for breeder deer and open range Exotics.

• Must have the ability to dart animals.

• Understanding of Texas Game Warden inspections.

• Proven ability to manage short deadlines, emergency situations.

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.

• Manage vendor relationships for all ranch and animal supplies.

• Build, inspect, maintain and repair ranch structures (buildings, fences, roads, gates, etc.) and equipment as needed and as listed on preventive maintenance schedule.

• Maintain operational and maintenance records.

• General landscaping and mowing.

• Range and wildlife management, including feeding, aging and surveys.

• Competency with “handy-man skills” – changing light bulbs, restocking supplies, notifying owners of problems that require additional resources. Light plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry a plus.

• Maintenance and care of recreational vehicles--Polaris’, 4 wheelers and jet skis.

• Water well knowledge and experience.

• Heavy equipment operator a plus.

• General computer skills – email, scan, fax (laptop, printer, scanner and Efax provided)

• Must be able to communicate while in the field using smart phone (provided) through text and emails.



Ranch Host Duties:

• Maintain inventory of groceries and cleaning supplies.

• Create and maintain a preventive maintenance program for houses.

• Preparation of main house for owners and guests

o Check list of preparation items will be provided

o Maintain guest arrivals and departures through Outlook Calendar

o Guide guests on recreational hunts, target practice, tours, etc. (as needed)

o Provide lessons to guests on recreational vehicle use (Polaris’, 4 wheelers and jet skis).
