We are a diverse cow calf, horse and hay operation running on both deeded and United States Forest Service ground in the southern Black Hills. Currently we are looking for at least one motivated and skilled individual or couple to join our existing crew. Responsibilities will include: caring for cattle and horses, training horses at all levels, maintaining facilities including buildings, fence, corals and stock water systems, calving, branding, pasture doctoring, trailing cattle to pasture, wrangling horses, feeding in the winter and some equipment operation when necessary. We do have an indoor arena for when its cold or we need shade – but applicants should be prepared and willing to be out in all weather conditions. We are in search of someone with an extensive background in horse training. Raising and training ranch and rope horses is a major part of the day to day on this ranch. Applicants should have past experience as a horse trainer or trainers assistant or similar for which they can provide references. Applicants who live more than a few hours from the ranch should be prepared to provide a video demonstrating their skills. Those with a rope horse background are very strongly encouraged to apply. Benefits package includes: Salary commensurate with experience, 3+ bedroom house with electricity and propane paid, cost share health insurance, commission on sales of employees “string” of ranch horses, two personal horses per employee and paid vacation. We don’t plan any work for weekends or holidays with the exception of essential chores which we all take turns with. Other positive features: The housing is private but on a well maintained gravel road. The nearest neighbors are not far, and the city of Hot Springs is only 19 miles away (50/50 blacktop.) The area offers countless opportunities for recreation, education and fun for families. Rapid City, SD is only 1 ½ hours away and has all the amenities of big city.
