Description:
This is NOT a riding job, but includes halter breaking and working with weanlings, yearlings and two-year-olds on a daily basis to gentle them prior to the first ride. Additionally, the job includes daily feeding, checking broodmare band, doctoring injuries and light fence maintenance among other ranch chores. Winters can be severe and include: foaling and attendant night checks, feeding and chopping ice in addition to working with the colts.



The ranch is located on 68,000 acres, an hour north of Cheyenne, WY and about an hour southwest of Scottsbluff, NE. The nearest grocery store is about 35 miles north in Torrington, WY; the nearest Walmart is in Cheyenne or Scottsbluff.



Applicant must be highly motivated, a good team member and open to learning new methods of working with horses.



Single housing available: Furnished two bedroom house in Hawk Springs, WY - 15 minute drive from the ranch headquarters. Full kitchen, laundry, shower/bathtub combo. House received fresh paint, new roof, remodeled bathroom, partially remodeled kitchen last year. This is single housing - you will not have a roommate.





Salary is DOE and health insurance is available.



Required skills:

History of working with/riding horses

Physical ability to regularly lift 50 lbs, pitch hay and chop ice

High school diploma or GED



Additional skills:

History of working with young horses utilizing the tenants of natural horsemanship

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

Some experience with doctoring/foaling

Comfort with computers – especially Word and Excel

Experience with heavy machinery – tractor, Bobcat, truck and trailer
