We have black angus cross cows. We calve in March and April. We work our cattle mainly on horseback. We typically have 2 or 3 full-time employees and an owner is heavily involved nearly on a daily basis during the months of April through August and then 3 days a week or so from Sept to April. We are looking for another team member. The duties of this position are to work with the ranch manager and active owner and plan and perform all ranching tasks. Major ranching tasks include feeding livestock from Nov to mid May. Barded wire and steel panel fencing nearly year round. Calving cows and heifers mid Feb through May. Cutting, raking, baling, and hauling hay mid July through August. Riding health and doctoring for sick cattle. Must know how to identify and treat sick cattle. Must be competent on horseback and be able to rope. Must be able to diagnose and repair equipment including tractors, feeders, hay equipment, etc. Having a CDL is a plus. Being able to mechanic to at least a basic level is required. This is not a riding job. Its an all-around ranching job. During calving, haying, and some fall work it is a 6 day a week position. Other times it is 5 days a week and during the slower times paid time-off is encouraged. We are a very strong family-oriented ranch. We realize ranching is a life-style and it should be family based. We want you to have time for your family. We are christian based and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is strongly preferred. No smoking or drinking on the ranch premises. Compensation includes monthly stipend. Housing. Feeding of horses. We ranch because we like it. We want to have fun and enjoy the environment. Happy, enthusiastic, supportive, and positive attitudes are required. We are looking for a long-term fit. We are not looking for someone needing a job. We are looking for a person wanting this position for a career and we want to build a strong relationship of friendship, trust, and loyalty all around. We want a team effort. In the operation of things there isn’t a dictator or boss. We discuss together and figure out the best ways to do things with input from everyone involved.
