Description:
Stetson is the kind of horse that is incredibly hard to find. He is a genuinely safe, honest, finished ranch gelding that can do a full day’s work, yet is gentle enough to confidently carry a 75-year-old man or our 11- and 7-year-old boys. This is not a horse we are simply calling “kid gentle.” Our boys ride him, handle him, mess with him, climb around him, and trust him — and Stetson takes care of them every single time. He is patient, forgiving, kind-natured, and has the type of mind that makes you feel comfortable putting someone you love on his back. Stetson is an 11-year-old sorrel gelding standing 15.3 hands, with plenty of bone, a good build, and an exceptionally kind eye. He has been used extensively on the ranch and knows what a real day’s work is. He has dragged calves, doctored cattle in the pasture, sorted pairs, ponied colts, worked gates, and handled all phases of ranch work. He is one-hand broke, soft in the bridle, light in the mouth, and extremely well trained, with smooth, comfortable gaits and an excellent handle. He will sidepass, spin, work a gate, pick up either lead, and ride as easily with a rope around his neck as he does in a bridle. What makes Stetson truly special is that all of that training comes in a horse that is still incredibly quiet and dependable. You can saddle him on a cold morning after time off, step on, and go to work without worrying about nonsense. He is not spooky, reactive, or looking for an excuse to get someone in trouble. He has been exposed to just about everything and takes new situations in stride.

Stetson is also an outstanding trail horse. He will cross water, travel through thick brush, handle rough country, and carefully pick his way through uneven terrain. He will ride out alone or in a group and is perfectly content leading, following, or riding in the middle. He has been ridden down the road and around traffic and handles it quietly. On the ground, he is just as enjoyable. He is easy to catch, respectful, stands quietly tied, is good for the farrier, saddles easily, loads without trouble, and hauls well. There are plenty of broke horses. There are plenty of gentle horses. Finding one that is this broke, this experienced, this safe, and this trustworthy all in the same package is what makes Stetson special. If you are looking for a horse for your kids, your parents, yourself, or simply want one dependable gelding that the whole family can enjoy while still being capable of doing a real job, Stetson is the kind you keep for a lifetime. Asking $14,500 Call Aubrey at 830-377-7236 or Wendy at 210-363-1883 for more information. Serious inquiries only, please. Vet checks are welcome. Delivery is available anywhere in the United States.
