Description:
6-Year-Old | 16.3 HH | Dapple Grey Percheron × Quarter Horse Gelding

If you’re looking for a big, beautiful, versatile gelding with a heart of gold, meet Caspian! 🤍

Caspian is a stunning 6-year-old dapple grey Percheron/Quarter Horse cross with the sweetest disposition and not a mean bone in his body. He’s the kind of horse who meets you at the gate, loves attention, and genuinely enjoys being around his people. He’s affectionate, independent, naturally willing, and as kind as they come.

Caspian has the bone, substance, and strength of a draft horse combined with the athleticism and versatility of a Quarter Horse. And that gorgeous dapple grey coloring certainly doesn’t hurt!

He recently completed an additional 90 days of professional training and has built on his previous training, very quickly. Caspian has a solid walk, trot, and canter, direct reins, and has a good motor underneath him. He is a naturally forward-moving horse who enjoys having a job and is willing to go wherever you point him. He is very smart and wants to do what you ask of him.

Whether you’re riding through open fields, wooded trails, crossing water, or working in the arena, Caspian is happy to participate. He will ride out alone or with other horses and has been exposed to machinery/trains, dogs, chickens, and various animals encountered along the trail.

A few highlights:

• Excellent ground manners

• Stands tied patiently as long as needed

• Stands quietly for mounting and dismounting

• Solid walk, trot, and canter

• Direct reins with a forward, energetic ride

• Rides out alone or with other horses

• Comfortable in open fields, wooded areas, or the arena

• Crosses water

• Can be ridden bareback or double

• Can throw a rope off him and drag objects

• Comfortable with flags, umbrellas, and obstacles

• Stands for grooming, fly spray, and the farrier

• Loads and hauls easily

• Turns out well with other horses

• Can live outside or be stalled

• Easy keeper with no special feeding requirements

• Barefoot, with no shoes, supplements, or maintenance required

• Same dependable personality every time you ride

One of my favorite things about Caspian is his versatility. You can hop on bareback, give the little ones a giant pony ride, saddle him up for a trail ride, or put him to work around the ranch. He has the size and strength to handle a job, the athleticism to move out beautifully, and the disposition to make him an enjoyable horse to have around.

Although he’s already been exposed to quite a bit for a younger draft horse and has a great foundation, I would recommend an intermediate rider simply because of his size, strength, and the fact that he still has some years of experience to gain.

I truly believe Caspian could excel as an all-around family or ranch horse, trail partner, or even a beautiful fox hunting prospect. He’s equally suited to someone looking for a horse to enjoy recreationally or someone who wants to continue developing his skills and give him a specific job.

Caspian is the best of both worlds: the gentle, substantial build of a draft horse with the athleticism of a Quarter Horse, all wrapped up in one gorgeous dapple grey package.

He’s up to date on everything, requires no special maintenance, and is ready for his next adventure.

Pre-purchase examinations are welcome at the buyer’s expense.
