Description:
Cheyanne is one of our favorite mares that we have owned, and it is easy to see why. She is a gorgeous 15 hand bay mare that is put together exactly how you want one, but what makes her so special to us is everything she brings to the table beyond her looks. She has the training, versatility and mind to do so many different things, and she is simply the kind of mare that you enjoy having around and enjoy getting on.

Cheyanne has had some reining training and is a really fun mare to ride. She has a nice neck rein, will pivot, back and stop, and picks up both correct leads. She will one step into her lope and will trot around with a nice low level head, or you can ask her to carry herself into more of a headset. She has some really nice buttons without feeling complicated or overly sensitive. She is easy to ride, responsive and fun, whether you are an experienced rider wanting to use what she knows or a less experienced rider simply wanting a nice horse to enjoy.

One of the things I really like about Cheyanne is how versatile she is. She is kid and amateur friendly, but she is still fun enough that a more experienced rider can get on her and really enjoy her. I could see an older kid learning and growing with her, an amateur having a nice horse to enjoy around the arena or on the trails, or an experienced rider taking advantage of the buttons she already has. She rides English, takes small jumps, has been around cattle and knows how to push them around. She really could go in so many different directions.

She is just as enjoyable outside of the arena. Cheyanne handles new sights and places extremely well and doesn’t need everything to be familiar before she settles in. She has been through water, tall brush and over logs and handles different terrain very well. She rides well alone or in a group and has been around dogs. You can take her somewhere new and she takes it all in confidence like she has been there before.

If I had to pick one thing that really sets Cheyanne apart, it would be her ground manners. She has some of the best ground you could ask for in a horse. She is respectful of your space, leads beautifully and will stand quietly cross tied or ground tied. She stands to be brushed, tacked and bathed without making a fuss and stands well for the farrier. She is shod all the way around, loads well and hauls well. This is a mare that is simply a pleasure to handle, and that is something we have really appreciated about her during the time we have owned her.

At home, Cheyanne is happy living in a stall or turned out in a mixed herd and stays lower to middle of the pecking order. She is easy to have around and fits into a normal barn routine very nicely.

What I love most about Cheyanne is that she doesn’t need to be one specific kind of horse. She can spend the morning working in the arena, go trail riding that afternoon, cross a creek, walk through the brush, push some cattle around or go over a few small jumps. She is happy to do whatever you ask and, just as importantly, she is enjoyable to be around while doing it.

Cheyanne is pretty, well trained, sensible and genuinely enjoyable. She has the looks to catch your eye, the training to give you something to work with, and the mind that makes you want to keep taking her places and trying new things.

She has been one of our favorites to own, and I don’t say that lightly. She is the kind of mare that you appreciate every time you catch her, every time you saddle her and every time you get on her. I think her next person is going to quickly understand why she has been such a favorite of ours.
