Description:
JAK MR SUN BLUE 581, better known around here as Ransom, is the kind of horse that catches your eye before you ever get a chance to meet him, but it is his personality that really makes him special. He is a gorgeous 15.2 hand buckskin gelding with a true puppy dog personality. Ransom absolutely loves his people and wants to be involved in whatever you are doing. He thrives on attention and genuinely enjoys every bit of affection his rider is willing to give him. He is the type of horse that makes you want to spend time with him even when you aren’t riding.

Once you get in the saddle, Ransom is just as enjoyable. He has a steady, confident, trusting mindset and is very willing to listen to his rider. He doesn’t need everything to be familiar before he can relax and go to work. Take him somewhere new, show him what you are asking, and he handles it with the kind of confidence that makes you comfortable putting him in new situations.

On the trail, Ransom is steady, confident, and trustworthy. He will go out alone or with a group and doesn’t need another horse to give him confidence. He crosses water, goes through challenging terrain, and confidently navigates downed trees without making a fuss. He has also been exposed to all kinds of obstacles including balls, tarps, dragging a sled, and tracking the roping dummy. He has seen enough different things that when something new comes his way, he doesn’t immediately assume it is a big deal. He listens to his rider and keeps going.

In the arena, Ransom has a lot to offer. He has a correct neck rein and rides around beautifully whether you want him on a loose rein with a level head or ask him to carry himself in a headset. He has a one step lope, picks up both correct leads, and has lead changes. He rides English and takes jumps, giving him even more versatility than your average trail or ranch type horse. He is the kind of gelding I could see someone taking in so many different directions and having fun with along the way.

And one of the things I really appreciate about Ransom is that he doesn’t just have the training and ability, he has the mind to go with it. He is safe and gentle, and exceptionally well mannered on the ground. He stands quietly cross tied to be brushed, bathed, and tacked. He loads well, hauls well, and takes new places in confidence. He is comfortable being stalled or turned out on pasture and does well living in a mixed herd.

There is something really special about a horse that can be this handsome, this versatile, and still have such a genuinely sweet personality. Ransom wants to be your partner. He wants your attention, he wants to please you, and he seems to enjoy whatever you have planned for the day. Whether that means spending the afternoon on the trails, working in the arena, taking a few jumps, playing with cattle, or simply hanging around the barn, he is happy to be there with you.

At the end of the day, Ransom is just one of those horses that is hard not to love. He is handsome, talented, confident, safe, and incredibly sweet, but it is the way he wants to be with his person that really sets him apart. He is the kind of gelding you can enjoy in the saddle and genuinely enjoy being around, and I think his next person is going to feel pretty lucky to call him theirs.
