Description:
Bud is an 8 year old papered border collie. I have owned him for 2 years. I am selling him because I sold my herd of goats and I think he has a couple more years of herding left in him.



Bud is effective, obedient, and useful for herding, and with an experienced herder, works well. A novice at dog herding may struggle with him. He knows his directions, come by and away to me. He can do far gathers. He moves fast and can get stubborn nannies moving. He downs, but sometimes needs a reminder to take you serious. When I have been using him daily, I have even had success having him drive a herd laterally, taking them either left or right. He is responsive to there, steady, walk up, and ok at look back.



He will sometimes single out a kid and bite it, especially if he has not been worked for awhile. His gathers are J shaped, rather then the correct pear shape. I also had an employee working him and if the employee was not paying attention, Bud would leave him and run to the far side of the herd and begin gathering without being asked. He has never done this with me, but I would not allow it. Additionally, he should not be trusted alone with chickens. If you are with him, he is obedient and you can call him off and he will stay with you. But, if he is lose in a barn yard full of chickens and no one is around, he will kill them.



He is that type of dog that can be very effective for someone who already knows how to work a trained border collie. I think a novice working him could be problematic.



Unfortunately, I do not have any good videos of him working. I have used him a lot over the past two years, but I sold all my goats two weeks ago, and did not think to get videos of him before I sold them. I have a few I can text you that sort of show him.



Lastly, he is intact and papered. However, the owner he is registered to died, so I am unsure how hard it would be to transfer the ownership papers.
