Classic comes from the well-known Bill Smith Ranch, and he’s already had the kind of real-world education you simply can’t recreate inside an arena. He’s been used on the ranch pushing cattle and has traveled miles of mountain trails. He’s seen country, had a job, and understands what it means to put in an honest day’s work. These days, however, Classic is perfectly content to take life at a slightly slower pace. 😂 He’s definitely a more whoa than go kind of guy. Give him a loose rein, point him down the trail, and he’s happy to mosey along and enjoy the scenery. He’s quiet, relaxed, and uncomplicated—the type of gelding that riders of many different experience levels can get along with and enjoy. Out on the trail, Classic will lead or follow and is comfortable heading out alone or riding with a group. He isn’t worried about where everyone else is or convinced that the group is having more fun 50 feet ahead of him. He simply goes where you point him and takes the ride as it comes. Take him into the arena and there’s another side to Classic that I think has a LOT of potential. He’ll walk, trot, and lope off nicely while traveling comfortably on a loose rein, and I personally think he’d make a really neat Ranch Riding prospect. He’s already got the ranch experience and sensible mind; someone could take that foundation, add some polish, and have an awfully nice horse to show. Classic has also had a rope thrown off him and has been started on cowboy obstacles. He’s willing to try new things and has his whole future ahead of him. Ranch Riding, ranch versatility, obstacles, trails, cattle work, or simply being somebody’s really nice all-around gelding—there are plenty of directions you could take him. And when you’re finished riding, he’s the kind you’ll actually want to hang around with. Classic is very friendly, loves attention, and is easy to catch. He’s easy to tack, loads well, and is good for both the veterinarian and farrier. He has a sweet, personable nature without forgetting his manners. Classic isn’t the horse who’s going to make every ride an adventure. He’s the horse who lets YOU decide what the adventure is going to be. Want to spend the afternoon quietly wandering through the mountains? He’s ready. Want to move some cattle? He knows the job. Want to start polishing one up for the Ranch Riding pen? There’s plenty here to work with. Or maybe you just want a big, handsome gray Quarter Horse that you can saddle up and enjoy without turning riding into a full-time job. Classic is pretty good at that too. 😉 Please take the time to watch Classic’s video and see this handsome gelding for yourself. If you have any questions or would like to talk about whether Classic might be a good fit for you, please give me a call or text. We’d be happy to tell you more about him!
