Doctoring: Horses - 10+, Cattle - 1 Room And Board: Needed Phone#: 6264823598 click to view fullsize image Description: I am an experienced and motivated horseman/ranch professional seeking a full-time position in equine breeding/foaling, ranch or herd management, performance horses, or cow-calf operations. I have spent the past 10+ years working professionally with horses, primarily moving around the country and working for breeding and foaling operations involving Running Thoroughbreds, Team Roping Quarter Horses, and Miniature/Shetland Ponies. Through these positions, I have developed extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in equine reproduction, mare and foal health, handling breeding stock, reproductive medications and their administration, and general equine care. My more recent experience has been with guest ranch operations, where I have worked in positions including Foreman, Herd Boss, and Wrangler. These positions have given me experience working as part of a team, maintaining the health and well-being of large herds of horses, managing teams of wranglers, ranch operations, and providing excellent customer service. I am currently working as Herd Boss for a large guest outfit, where I am responsible for the veterinary care and nutrition management of 160+ head of horses. Some of my experience and responsibilities include: - Knowledge and use of many different injectable medications - Proficient with IV, IM, and SQ medication administration - Laceration and puncture wound care protocols - Handling and managing colic cases - Taking and monitoring vitals - Bandaging and wrapping - Managing farrier, veterinarian, and feed schedules - Maintaining herd health - Nutrition management - Medication and inventory management Equine & Ranch Experience: - Colt starting — halter breaking, groundwork, and first rides - Breeding & foaling — mare/foal management, handling stallions, reproductive drug use and administration, AI, live cover, sales, and more - Managing farrier, veterinarian, and feed schedules - Data entry and record keeping - Ranch maintenance - Providing constructive management and leadership to teams of wranglers - Managing budgets and inventory - Excellent customer service skills - 24+ years riding - 10+ years working professionally with horses - Can haul a truck and trailer - Comfortable operating skid steers, tractors, excavators, etc. Although my professional background has primarily been in the equine industry, I am very interested in making my way further into the cow-calf industry. I am a fast learner, willing to work hard, and not afraid of the long hours that ranching entails. I have hands-on experience with cattle, including gathering in rough country, snag and drag brandings, vaccinating, and doctoring cattle. I am experienced with roping horses from horseback, although I could use additional experience when it comes to roping cattle. I am looking for a position where I can bring the experience and skills I have already developed while continuing to learn and take on new responsibilities. I am willing to relocate anywhere in the United States for the right position, but would prefer to remain in the West, particularly WY, MT, ID, OR, UT, NV, or WA. Housing would be required for myself, my gelding (a usable rope horse), and my well-behaved 11-year-old neutered male Border Collie.
