We are a cow/calf operation that runs around 1300 head with another 300 head of replacements that come in the spring. We do most cattle work horseback but we do not ride everyday as there are many other duties on the ranch that need to be attended to. Depending on the situation we will use a 4 wheeler or side by side to push cows. Riding experience is preferred. There is roughly 2000 acres of farm land as well. Farming experience is preferred. Individual must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record. Individual must be hard working, honest, reliable, willing to work with others and alone. We are looking for a motivated person who has a passion for the ranching lifestyle. Cold weather calving experience is preferred, along with being able to identify and treat sick cattle. Jobs duties include but not limited to : Winter : Feeding cows laying out hay that will be fed the next day chopping ice snow removal shop jobs (welding, cleaning, vehicle maintenance) Riding colts/green horses Spring: Feeding cows Calving (cold weather calving experience preferred) Tagging Pairing out (horseback) Riding through pairs (doctoring) Possibility of riding green horses if we feel you are capable Branding (snag and drag) Fencing lower country and working our way to mountain country Spring/Summer: Putting out gated pipe Moving cows closer to summer mountain pastures Fencing (we have lots of mountain fence that is roughed up by elk so we spend lots of time fixing fence) Put out salt/mineral Property maintenance (weed eating, mowing) Overall ranch maintenance ( vehicles, corrals, fences) Irrigating (gated pipe, flood, and center pivots) Farming (cutting, raking, baling, and hauling hay off fields) Fall: picking up gated pipe Moving cows off mountain Corral/working facility maintenance Weaning Shipping Preg checking Preparing water systems for winter Housing ,work truck, and ranch horses provided.
