I describe myself as a versatile problem solver, willing to learn through hands-on experience and trial by fire. I believe that being adaptable and willing to work in any conditions- sun, rain, or snow is an important part of being an asset to any operation. The more information I have, the better I can contribute to the operation’s success. I have previous experience working in cow-calf operations, pasture management, and versatility and cutting horse programs. I also have some haying experience. In addition to my ranch experience, I am proficient in Microsoft programs, including Excel and Word. I am also a capable cook and enjoy making sure everyone at my table leaves full and satisfied. I believe trust and respect are essential in both the workplace and personal relationships. I respect and trust the people I meet until they give me a reason not to. Trust can take a long time to earn but only a moment to lose. I also understand that working on and managing a diverse operation involves much more than simply being on horseback. The small details are critical, whether that means checking water sources, monitoring mineral intake, or recognizing other needs before they become problems. Those details are often what separate a good assistant manager or manager from a great one. Above all, communication is the most important quality I bring to an operation. I believe clear, honest, and consistent communication is essential to building trust, solving problems, and keeping an operation running successfully. I took some time away from ranch work to gain additional management experience in the blue-collar industry, working as a project manager for an infrastructure rehabilitation company in Texas. That experience strengthened my leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills and gave me a broader understanding of managing people and projects.
