Description:
Turtle is a cute 13 year old, 14.2hh Appaloosa gelding, low to the ground and easy to get on yet big enough to carry an adult. He came off of an 8500 acre ranch outside of Laredo Texas, where he was owned by a large ranching family for most of his life. He was ridden by several of their older children, and they would gather and doctor cattle on him and drag calves. Turtle is quiet and not spooked or bothered by anything, and he has excellent ground manners. He is easy to catch and gets along well with all other horses. He has more whoa than go, will trot and lope if asked but prefers a slower pace of life. Turtle is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He is very sure footed and will go up, over or through anything you point him at. He will not go any faster than you ask him to, and is content to walk all day long if that is what you prefer. Turtle is very comfortable to ride and has one of the absolute best rocking horse lopes I have ever ridden. He will carry a flag and you can open and shut gates on him easily. He is good for the farrier, stands quietly tied, and loads and hauls well. He will ride out alone as well as with a group, will happily lead or follow, and has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it.
