Backcountry cook position available

Hells Canyon Outfitters is looking for a backcountry cook for this fall. This job entails going into the wilderness on horseback and cooking out of a backcountry wall tent camp. Most of the time you will be cooking 3 meals/day for groups of 4-8 people. This is a fun and rewarding work environment.



All backcountry cook applicants must:



Be willing to ride a mule

Be able to provide references

Be 18 years or older

Have a valid drivers license

Speak and write English

Have a good attitude

Be willing to learn

Have prior commercial cooking experience (preferably outdoors)

Be able to work alone

Be able to work with others

Be willing to put in long days and stay in the wilderness for extended periods of time

Be comfortable being by yourself in a wilderness setting

Duties will include but are not limited to:



Cooking for guides and clients in the backcountry

Feeding and caring for livestock

Cleaning

Shopping

Meal planning
