Summer Herdsman Position – Southern Utah

Location: Near Bryce Canyon National Park, Southern Utah

Employment Dates: June 15 – October 6

Compensation:

• $2,800–$3,000 per month DOE



Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable, self-motivated herdsman to help manage approximately 500 cow-calf pairs on summer range in Southern Utah. This position offers a high degree of independence and flexibility, provided cattle are properly managed and maintained in designated grazing areas.



Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage approximately 500 pairs of cattle

• Keep cattle in assigned pastures and grazing areas

• Rope and doctor calves as needed

• Maintain and repair fences

• Monitor herd health and report issues promptly

• Work independently while ensuring livestock are properly cared for

Requirements

• Must provide:

o Own truck

o Horse trailer

o Horses

o Personal living accommodations (tent, camper, trailer, etc.)

• Strong livestock handling skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Experience with roping and doctoring cattle preferred

• Self-motivated and dependable

Accommodations

• Up to 5 horses allowed

• Option to stay near the corrals or move with the herd during the grazing season



Schedule:

Flexible hours, with the expectation that cattle are maintained in the proper locations and all duties are completed in a timely manner.



Pay: $2,800–$3,000 per month DOE (depending on experience and qualifications), plus opportunities for additional day-work compensation after the season is over.
