Position Overview: This is a seasonal summer position that could turn into a permanent role for the right person. This is NOT a beginner position. Applicants must be drug-free, including marijuana, and random drug testing is required. We run a dry camp. The position is based on C Punch Ranch in Northern Nevada. Responsibilities • Care for cattle across the entire ranch and in the feedlot. • Work with the Cowboss and the rest of the crew. • Trail cattle to other areas; gather, wean, brand, and move cattle as needed. • Camp in remote areas a couple of times throughout the year. • Repair fence when needed. • Haul water during the summer; driving can be shared between employees. This is a large operation with no fences or pastures, so the work involves a lot of riding, roping, and moving cattle. We place a strong emphasis on stockmanship and making good horses. We do not use dogs, and our cattle handle well for a rider and horse. Requirements: • You must be motivated, capable, and willing to work and continue learning stockmanship. • You must provide your own horses. A minimum of 5 is required, and you may bring up to 8 head total. • Outside horses are welcome as long as they are used for ranch work. • You must be able to shoe, rope, and read cattle well. • You will report directly to the Cowboss. Housing, Pay, and Benefits Current housing is at Cow Camp, a nice remote shared four-bedroom house. If hired full-time, We have townhouse with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, and basement. In Lovelock with school, grocery store and other amenities. There may also be day-work options for a spouse if you are hired full-time. Housing is only available to the hired employee through the summer. Pay depends on experience and starts at $150 per day or more. **We provide feed, grain, horseshoes, trucks and trailers, bunkhouse accommodations, and food.
