This is a hands-on, year-round role centered primarily on daily horse care and horsemanship, with occasional support for cattle operations and general ranch work. The right person takes pride in their animals, their barn, and their work. Compensation & Benefits Competitive wage DOE Housing provided (valued at approximately $1,500/month); employee responsible for utilities Flexible time off by schedule; no formal vacation policy Saturday hours until 1:00 PM Schedule Available 7 days a week for animal feeding and chores Dog feeding twice daily at 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM Duties & Responsibilities Equine Care (approximately 90% of the role) Daily care and feeding of approximately 25 horses Observe all horses daily for health, soundness, and wellbeing Exercising and training of horses as needed Coordinate and schedule vet work, shoeing, and related services Keep tack organized and maintained Barn & Grounds Keep barn, stalls, and corrals clean Spray and trim weeds and grass Fence repair and maintenance Adjust irrigation as needed Keep grounds in good overall appearance Animal Care Daily care of dogs (twice daily at 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM) and cats Ranch Support Give trail rides and riding lessons as needed Assist cattle crew with general ranch work (branding, sorting, moving cattle) Occasional errands and trips to town What We’re Looking For Strong horsemanship skills — this is not a general ranch hand or trail ride position Confident and safe working around horses in all situations Experience with barn management and packing preferred Trustworthy, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Comfortable working independently and as part of a team Minimum cell phone use while working; no earbuds on the job Professional personal appearance Honest, direct communication This is not a complete list; additional duties may be assigned.
