Description:
Through truthfully no fault of his own, Goose is up for consideration. My kid has fallen in love with little red mares and is throwing himself full force into training a new one. Goose is a 14.1 hand, 15 year old, grade, chocolate palomino gelding. This little guy is STUNNING!

Goose was trained in WY and exposed to all elements of pastures, gathering and doctoring. Since then he has been hauled to gymkhanas, more gathering, and lots of trails. Traffic safe, loads and hauls great, will stand tied, can throw a rope off him, good for the farrier (has had shoes when we’re riding hard ground, but he’s got solid feet barefoot) and has tolerated all of my bonus kids shenanigans- standing on his saddle, sliding off of his butt, doing backflips, and dressing up for Halloween.

He bathes and is good for the vet and needles, easy keeper and stays a little on the chunky side on grass. He’s lightly done gymkhana, although I would say he would need work on a solid barrel pattern if that’s the direction you wanted to go. He LOVES trail rides, he will go anywhere! Crosses water (including playing in the water, so you’d better keep him moving 😂), goes over logs, through brush and ravines, will stay on trail or ride out away from the group (he’s admittedly much more barn sour lately).

Recently we’ve discovered he loves jumping (not tried under saddle, pictures shown). Neck reins, can be ridden around bareback with a piece of baling twine, moves off of leg beautifully, and this guy is QUICK. He’s got personality- will splash and play in water and will very happily sit and share an ice cream with you.

The bad- Goose can be watchy. He tolerates dogs, especially when under saddle, but he will protect “his” herd from our GSD if she’s messing with anyone. He’s a pony and has a pony attitude and needs a job to keep that at bay. Goose is NOT a beginner horse, he needs an intermediate rider, he’s only given a small buck one time (a tie string on the ground popped up and tickled his…..belly 😂) but will take advantage if you don’t know what you’re doing- and again, he’s QUICK to spin around, if you’re not ready you may not stay center! Can be hard to catch in a big pen, but can’t say no to a bucket of grain or some type of treat. He doesn’t get along well with mares since we lost our old lady, but did great when we had more geldings -he likes to be bossy. If you’re patient with him he’s incredibly willing, but he can take time to warm up.

Good home a must. Due for annual vetting but will be done prior to purchase, recently chiropractored and gets his feet done regularly. It’s going to be really hard for my kid to see him go, but this guy is too good to sit on the back burner. Take him any direction! I think he would be an adorable hunter/jumper- rides bareback beautifully but hasn’t ever had an English saddle.
