This is a salaried position, with living accommodations provided, insurance available, and opportunity for growth. You must know how to read country and cattle—adjusting grazing plans based on forage, weather, and herd condition to make the most of the land without running it down. Pays close attention to body condition, forage availability, and weather to make practical decisions that support both herd performance and the ground. Experienced with fencing, water systems, wells, and keeping equipment running. Capable with horses, machinery, and long days in the saddle or on the ground. Experienced in gathering, sorting, processing, branding, and shipping cattle, using low-stress handling. Capable putting in long days when the job calls for it. Takes ownership of the operation and doesn’t wait around to fix problems. Brings a strong work ethic, good judgment under pressure, a team player mentality, and a willingness to do whatever needs doing—whether that’s fixing a line, checking cows at daylight, or putting in long hours during shipping or calving. Comfortable managing calving season from start to finish, including night checks, assisting difficult births, doctoring, tagging, and getting pairs up and going. Solid understanding of breeding programs, bull management, and maintaining strong calf crops. Well-versed in all stages of the cycle—calving, breeding, pairing out, weaning, and shipping—while staying on top of herd health, nutrition, and pasture conditions. Understands that a ranch is a business, making operational and management decisions with a clear focus on efficiency, profitability, and bottom-line accountability. Thorough and consistent communication with ownership and management is critical to our success.
