Description:
"Stormy" is a quiet 7 year old gelding that wants to please. Standing right at 14 hands and weighing around 1000# he is a good size to get on yet fairly substantial. Howdy bought "Stormy" from the Rafter J program as a two year old and has ridden and ranched on him since. He is an accomplished ranch horse and has been used accordingly but in kid fashion. When one speaks of kid fashion that could mean bareback, hanging off the side, standing in the saddle, riding behind the cantle or double with his siblings. "Stormy" handles all the things in good humor and doesn’t seem to mind.

Beyond the kid shenanigans that he seems to be accompany to, "Stormy" also has a serious ranch resume. Sorting pairs, doctoring sick calves, roping at branding both snag and drag as well as head and heel. We run a guest ranch along side our cow/calf operation so lots of people and commotion while dragging to the fire is the norm. "Stormy" just wades right through the throng to find his spot at the end of the rope to hold feet while the calf is branded.

Come fall, making big gathers in rough country and pushing cattle up the alley becomes the norm. Run the flag, push up in the alley or sort "Stormy" is cowy and willing.
