Description:
Located in Challis Idaho, this is a family owned and oriented outfit. The job requires moving twice a year, into a cow camp during the summer northwest of Mackay Idaho. During summer months there is also a home located about twenty minutes north of Mackay. During the summer the rider is responsible for moving pairs off of riparian areas, doctoring, building and maintaining fence and packing salt horse back and with an ATV. We wean calves in September while on the mountain and turn dry cows back out. Sending steers to a feed lot and weaned heifers to head quarters. We bring the cows off the mountain mid October.



During the winter we move to headquarters with the cow herd in Challis to calve February through the end of March. Must be willing to work in a shop maintaining equipment and facilities. Welding, mechanical experience and driving a semi would be preferred.



Needs to have 3 to 6 head of horses and be able to shoe or willing to Learn. Well mannered working dogs is not necessary but preferred. Also needs to know how to rope, spot and treat sick cattle. We run about 1000 mother cows and sell bred heifers in the fall. We are willing to teach and train the right person. We would prefer a younger family or married man. This is a great opportunity with room to grow and move up the ladder. Neighboring is a part of how we operate, we return the favor and help others with branding, gathering and weaning, etc. We are looking for someone to be a part of the community.
