This role is based on a large-scale working ranch running nearly 1,000 head across approximately 40,000 acres. Responsibilities include calving, feeding, haying, embryo transfer work, and maintaining overall herd health across the operation. This is a highly independent role best suited for someone who takes pride in their work and wants to work alongside the owner to keep the operation running smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities Feed cattle daily using hay processors and cakers; adjust to herd location and seasonal needs Calve heifers and cows across both spring and fall calving seasons; tag, weigh, and record every calf accurately Manage embryo transfer calves with a high level of accuracy correct tagging and record keeping is critical and non-negotiable Monitor cow-calf pairs daily; identify health issues early and respond accordingly Process cattle through tub and tipping table; administer shots and handle general herd health Synchronize and work cows through the chute in preparation for embryo transfers Assist with haying including mowing, raking, and baling rye grass Move and sort cattle using horseback, ATV, or truck Assist with shipping calves and preparing cattle for sale Perform fence building, repair, and general ranch maintenance as needed Assist with light mechanic work and general equipment upkeep Identify and complete tasks independently take initiative without waiting to be told Qualifications Prior cow/calf experience required Detail-oriented and accurate ability to tag, record, and track registered and ET calves without error Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities without supervision Experience operating hay and feeding equipment safely and responsibly Comfortable working cattle in both pasture and processing settings Class A CDL preferred; clean driving record required Basic mechanical skills required Honest, dependable, and accountable someone who shows up and gets it done Strong work ethic with a get-it-done attitude; not afraid to put in long days during peak seasons Compensation & Benefits $4,000/month Housing provided separate from owner with your own space and true time off Internet and Utilities provided ½ a Beef a Year Provided Up to 10 head of cows run on the ranch at no charge; additional cattle at cost Opportunity to purchase cattle from the owner Up to 3–4 horses welcome Flexible time off Long-term, stable opportunity with plenty of room for growth!
