The IX Ranch located in Big Sandy, MT is a cow/calf and stocker operation that covers over 140,000 acres. There are 5 divisions within the ranch each working in conjunction with one another. The Whitcraft location is located just outside of Big Sandy in the foothills of the Bear Paw Mountains. It receives an average of 13.5" of moisture per year. This is a Chinook region of Montana so snow can come and go throughout the winter months. The Whitcraft position will require a person with skills and experience in all areas of ranching. One of the most important skill must be the willingness and ability to manage a crew. This location will winter about 1700 cows and 1200 yearlings. There are 2 center pivots plus flood irrigation. We are looking for someone that can oversee all day to day operations which will include managing a crew of 2 - 8 people depending on the season. The Whitcraft home is an older, well kept, three bedroom home with 2 bath plus a large 2 car garage. Facilities at this location include heated shop, 2 bunk houses, full corrals and a horse round pen. There is a Silencer chute along with a full set of corrals. The Whitcraft Manager must be able to: ● Learn and adapt to the ever changing ranching environment ● Manage people from all age groups to varying skill levels ● Communication well with other Division Managers as well as employees and neighbors ● Prioritize and implement daily work schedules and assist in long-range planning ● “Ride for the Brand” ● Shoe horses (or be willing to learn and teach others) ● Operate a computer and understand basic computer programs in platforms such as Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive ● Break horses and follow IX horse training and employee horse training program ● Address common vehicle, equipment, fence/corral and home/building repairs/issues We have a full benefit package which includes of the following: Beef House plus utilities provided Retirement Annual bonus Paid vacation You can check us out at ixranch.com If interested send cover letter and resume to tamsbaugh@ixranch.com Posted 03-30-26 2105 visitors have viewed this ad
