Otis is the type of mule that can turn you from a mule hater into a mule lover. He is by far the best mule we have ever owned and is guaranteed to be kid and old man gentle. Safe for the entire family to ride and be around, both in the arena and out on the ranch. Otis is 14 years old and 14.1hh with the sweetest personality and the kindest eyes. He spent his entire life on a huge ranch near Balmorhea, packing kids, adults, supplies and sometimes even a goat around the ranch and through the Davis Mountains. Otis is extremely broke, and will neck rein, open gates, and lope on both leads. He walks quietly on a loose rein but will easily step into a trot or lope when asked. He will cross water, go through tall brush, and is not spooked or bothered by anything. Otis is solid and dependable, and is the same every single time you ride him. He does not need to be ridden everyday to stay gentle. Otis has no bad habits, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off. He is very good with his feet, and they are hard as a rock and have never required shoes. He is good around dogs, loves kids, and gets along great in a herd. Otis can be ridden by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind riding off from the group by himself. He loads easily and hauls well, stands quietly tied, and is easy to saddle and bridle.
