Description:
My name’s Simon and I am a 18 (coming 19 in april) year old seeking a seasonal ranch job to help me save for my farrier certificate program and college soon after; I plan on going into wildlife biology. I have four years of horseback experience. I have rehabbed a rescue standardbred, worked with and rehabbed many mustangs, including my own 4 year old mustang (which I would also appreciate on site boarding or pasture for him as well) which I have trained from the ground up. I feel comfortable working with any horse that is thrown at me, and pride myself on my ability to learn quickly and take any task asked of me on the chin. I have recently started sorting and love it. I’m no pro, and I don’t want to lie about any of my experience, but I would be more than grateful for a mentor that is willing to take a chance on me. I worked as a stable hand for nearly two years and can confidently do simple tasks like mucking, turning out, feeding, exercising, bucking hay, etc. Someone familiar with shoeing horses willing to mentor me in the farrier side of things is something I would be eternally grateful for as well.



A few things I have Zero experience with:

Machinery; I have used an ATV to catch horses.

Irrigation/Seeding/Farming in any capacity.

Haying

Calving

Fence mending (though I’m certain I could pick this up easily)

Welding



I’m sure there’s others as well, but these are the tasks I see on here most often that prevent me from applying, along with not wanting to waste someone’s time. This doesn’t mean I am unable or unwilling to learn, but once again I wish to be upfront.
