Description:
This position plays an important part in the day‑to‑day care of the ranch’s cattle. You’ll work closely with the Ranch Manager and Staff Veterinarian, spending your days on horseback, caring for livestock, and helping keep the ranch running smoothly.



Key Responsibilities:

• Ride horseback to check cattle for illness, injury, or stress, gather cattle, assist with calving, feed during winter, and repair fences.

• Help treat sick or injured cattle by following the veterinarian’s or manager’s treatment plan.

• Assist with cattle processing and shipping, including sorting, branding, vaccinating, worming, and tagging.

• Move cattle between pastures as directed by the Ranch Manager or Foreman.

• Care for ranch horses, including shoeing, basic medical care, feeding, and grooming.

• Take on additional ranch duties as assigned.



Experience

• Knowledgeable in the areas of animal health and cattle conditions generally acquired with a minimum of four+ years related experience

• Prior experience working with cattle in one or more of the cattle production segments (cow-calf, stocker, cattle feeding) is preferred



Key Skills and Abilities

• Ability to saddle and ride a horse.

• Must provide own tack.
