Description:
Torreon Equestrian Center (TEC) in Show Low, AZ is looking for a live on-site barn manager. Housing is provided year around, but the job is a full-time position for seven months of the year, mid-April to mid-Nov. You would be a 1099 contract worker. The ideal candidate would have other income or plans for the winter months. The position provides very nice housing, all utilities, accommodation for 1 horse of your own. If you have 2 horses’ room will be available but at the regular cost of board. The seven-month salary depends on whether you have a horse or not. The barn manager must live on site. The apartment is currently partially furnished but can be completely done depending on what the hire needs. Details to be discussed with our hire. We are also a completely non-smoking environment.

TEC is a top-notch boarding facility which operates for 6 months during the summer, May through October. Our manager needs to be on site two weeks prior to opening and two weeks after we close. Thus the 7 months of full-time work.

We are looking for the right person to join our team. TEC is home to about 41 horses each summer. Our manager is on staff Monday – Friday and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: good communication skills for friendly interaction with our boarders; feeding AM and PM; cleaning stalls; turnout rotations; light maintenance around the property; keeping barns clean and tidy; dragging turnouts; cleaning the community bathroom; and helping keep the supplies ordered (hay, alfalfa, shavings, etc.). You would work directly with the owner on these items. Additionally, keeping up with board contracts, horses’ needs or changes and minor paperwork. There is also a weekday employee to help with barn cleaning and turnouts. We have weekend managers that totally take care of Saturday and Sunday They live on-site as well.

Qualifications required are previous hands-on horse experience, this is a must, the ability to assess if a horse is having an issue, for example, colic, strength for physical labor of loading and feeding hay, cleaning stalls, ability to operate a small utility tractor and Bobcat, and a willingness to learn the system we have in place, with a smile. Please look at our website to view the facility www.torreonequestrian.com. We have been under the current owners for 5 seasons, and the place is awesome.
