This role requires a strong work ethic, a passion for the outdoors, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. ● Responsibilities: Ranch Property- Assist with maintenance and repair of fences (barbed wire, high tensile, electric, wood rail, corrals.) Weed identification and control (spraying/mowing.) Driveway road maintenance and snow removal. Keep facilities, vehicles and equipment clean. Livestock- Assist with animal husbandry, including feeding, health monitoring and treatment of livestock (cattle and horses). Moving cattle using horses and atvs. Monitor salt/mineral usage. Monitor and repair pipelines and livestock water tanks. Irrigation- Assist with operation of wheel line, center pivot and flood irrigation. Monitor water flows in irrigation ditches, check for/remove plugs. Haying- Assist with cutting, raking, baling, hauling/stacking bales. Operate tractors/equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Assist with maintenance/repairs of tractors and equipment. ● Skills Required Previous ranching experience- animal handling, animal husbandry, horseback riding, fence construction/repair, farm equipment operation. Strong physical and mental stamina for heavy lifting and long hours working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to follow safety procedures diligently and work independently or as part of a team. Valid driver’s license. Must be reliable and dependable, and possess a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. The ability to communicate both verbally and nonverbally (written). ● Skills that would be useful for this position- but not required. Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery repair and maintenance. Hands-on experience with irrigation systems. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavator skid steer, tractors, and power tools safely. Familiarity with welding techniques- mig and stick. Leadership qualities/employee management. Horse training, colt starting. Pasture roping/doctoring. ● Benefits: Competitive salary- depending on experience. Housing- two bedroom bunkhouse- utilities provided. Paid time off- two weeks paid vacation- to be mutually agreed to as to when. Annual Bonus. Half a beef annually. 1 elk and 1 deer from the ranch herds. Health stipend- with proof of Insurance, the employer will pay $150 per month to the employee. Self-Directed IRA with 50% matching up to $2,000 by Employer. Up to 2 horses- Employee is responsible for the general welfare of the horse. The employer pays for all feed, pasture, shoeing, vaccinations & any work related injuries. Up to 2 dogs- Employee is responsible for all health & welfare, all cleanliness & damage issues associated with housing, animal waste around housing & all vaccinations which are to be up to date & maintained. Any nuisance or aggressive dogs will not be allowed on the property. Annual merit based pay raises as appropriate based on performance & inflation. Home internet at Employer expense.
