CM Smart As Helen Red is a 3 Year Old that sells during the 817 Horse Sale’s January 17 Performance Horse Sale.



CM Smart As Helen Red, an own daughter of Color Me Smart, the legendary Paint stallion who became the first Paint horse to earn over $3 million as a sire and an APHA World Champion Cutting Horse. Her dam, Hydrive Sparky, is a daughter of Hydrive Cat, 2006 NCHA Futurity Open CHAMPION Stallion, 2012 Freshman Sire of the Year, and NCHA Hall of Fame. Helen was started late by Don and Jace Beard of Cheyenne, WY, from June to September. There, she was introduced to a wide variety of ranch type experiences. Jace said of her, “Easy going mare, but will give you her all when you ask for it. Wants to please and do whatever you ask of her. Ready and willing to go to work. Gathered cattle in the rough country and mountains. Can rope and doctor on her. She can go all day long and still pack the kids around when you get back to the house.” I got in couple of rides on her in between trainers. I found her to be a solid citizen, calm in negotiating obstacles such as logs, rocks, and trees. She was hauled to ADPH for cutting training the beginning of October, and will remain there until sold. There, her rider (TS) says of her, “Very cowy mare. Built right and ready to go to any program and be competitive. Very easy to get along with and wants to please.” Helen is Regular Registry APHA. (Her chrome is in her DNA.) She has neat stall habits and will hook onto those who are kind and fair to her. My wish for her is to go as far as she can in whichever field she is directed.
