We are a family owned, low stress farm/ranch where we raise roughly 300 May/June calving cow/calf pairs and farm approximately 2000 acres. We are in the process of transitioning to more regenerative management practices. This includes intensive grazing our cows using Vence, a virtual fence system, as well as beginning to transition from using fertilizers and chemicals to compost teas, cover crops, and intercropping on our farm ground. We currently raise wheat, barley, canola, and a chickpea/flax intercrop but may change as we diversify more. We have summer pastures 30 miles north in the Missouri River Breaks and 60 miles east close to the CMR National Wildlife Refuge. Our operation includes my husband, Ryan and I as well as Ryan’s folks and our two young boys. We value family time and activities as well as working together on ranch projects and tasks. We are looking for a hard worker that is willing to grow, learn and help implement soil health practices on our ranch. Our busy time begins in March/April with spring planting prep and seeding. Spring leads to collaring cows and getting them to summer pasture, checking and moving cows, haying, harvest, and fall planting and cow work. Winter time or off seasons will be filled with various projects from rebuilding old fences, ranch clean up, or completing construction work on a heated shop. We are also in the beginning stages of a large water project spreading water across pastures for better grazing practices. Duties will include the physical requirements of cattle work, fencing and general upkeep as well as operating machinery including tractors, skidsteer, swather, combine, ATVs, UTVs, driving grain trucks and a semi as well as operating other equipment as needed. We also perform a number of mechanic-type jobs on equipment. We are looking for someone who works well with others but is able to complete tasks on their own and is able to manage the ranch operations if we are gone for various reasons. A house is provided roughly ½ mile from the headquarters. Wages will start at $2500/mo DOE and will include some paid utilities and ranch raised beef. We are also willing to pay for future training opportunities that would benefit our ranch management practices. This position will be available April 1st.
