Description:
The Hobble Diamond Ranch in Big Timber, Montana is looking to hire a seasonal ranch hand for 2026. Employment will begin on March 1st and end October 31st.


The Hobble Diamond is located just east of Big Timber off the Greycliff exit. We are roughly an hour away from Bozeman or Billings, and Big Timber is about 10-15 minutes away.



The position will be responsible for our cows from calving to shipping. Work will include calving, feeding, sorting pairs, branding, checking/maintaining water, pasture rotation, fencing, etc. The ranch runs a registered outfit and our calving season requires accurate record keeping and attention to detail. There will be about 200 cows to calve out from March 15th through the 30th of April.



A typical work week will be 5-6 days, as our crew often rotates weekend responsibilities. However, that will be extended during calving season, and other busy times.



Benefits will include :

- Furnished housing with internet, garage, appliances, etc.

- 3 personal horse’s allowed. We’ll cover feed & farrier costs. Mares and geldings accepted.

- Working dogs are also allowed. However, they must be obedient and under control. They will be asked to stay at home during branding, corral work, and working calves/heifers. (Unless asked to join)

- Fishing is allowed on the river - however, we do not allow any hunting or shed hunting.



Calving, Equipment, and Overall Ranch experience is preferred however attitude is most important and will potentially hire with little experience. Knowing your way around a horse is ideal as cow work is done mostly on horseback, including brandings. Equipment operating will consist of mostly skid steers and tractors used for feeding and fencing.



Accommodations are suited for single individuals as you will be sharing housing with another full time employee.
