Description:
Teddy is a true gentle giant and one of the nicest Belgians we have had in a long time. He is safe for the entire family to be around and to ride, and will take care of his rider every time, no matter how small or inexperienced. He originally came from the Amish and will pull a buggy single or double, as well as trail ride and ride in the arena. He is so broke that you can put him anywhere you want, and he has been ridden extensively on trails and down the road by all levels of riders. Teddy will ride just as good bareback with a halter as he will with a saddle and bridle. He is 15 years old and 17.3 hh, close to 1800 pounds with a long, beautiful mane and tons of color. Teddy has excellent ground manners and is perfect with his feet, and will walk up to you in the pasture begging for attention. He is so quiet and respectful that even the little kids can safely be around him on the ground. My 7 and 10 year olds both ride him and drive him without any issues. Teddy stands perfectly still to mount, and will get up next to a fence, tailgate or mounting block to let you get on. He has been in loads of parades pulling a buggy as well as being ridden. Teddy is as easy as point, kick and go, is very light and easy to steer, with a good stop and back up. He will stand still and never move until you ask him to. He will willingly walk and trot, but we have never asked him to lope. He was built for strength and not speed. Teddy loves kids and can tell when a little one is on him or around him, and takes extra care with them. He will go anywhere you ask him to, crosses water with no problem, and will go through tall brush and over logs and never hesitates. He is very easy to hook up to a buggy and will stand patiently hooked to it as long as you want him to. He is an excellent trail horse and will ride by himself or in a group, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group and going off on his own. Teddy is not barn sour or herd sour, and can be turned out with mares or other geldings without issue. We have literally found nothing that bothers him or scares him, and he is as solid and safe as they come. Teddy is very easy to catch, stands quietly to be saddled, and takes a bridle easily. He rides just as good away from home as he does at home. He is good with dogs, chickens, pigs, and all other small animals. Teddy loads easily and hauls well.
